Schmidt Construction, part of the Edw. C. Levy Group of Companies is seeking a Screed Operator to work at our Colorado Springs, CO location . The Screed Operator adjusts a mechanism on the back of a paver which determines the depth, slope, and width of asphalt laid.

- Places asphalt at the correct grade and slope, according to job specifications.
- Performs daily machine inspection and routine greasing, oiling, and fueling
- Communicates with office and field personnel
- Inspects grade and elevations correctly
- Maintains cleanliness of equipment
- Assists maintenance personnel with repairs
- Keeps records
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Ability to read stakes and check grades
- Knowledge of materials
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Ability to communicate well with co-workers, customers, and other departments
- Ability to read and write
- Minimum 3 years paving experience
- Valid driver license
Physical Requirements
- Lifts up to fifty (50) pounds
- Sits, stands, and walks for extended period of time
- Occasional pushing, pulling and/or prying
- Good visual acuity, depth perception and eye-hand coordination
- Climbing on, in to and out of equipment
- Able to detect differences between sounds that vary in pitch and loudness
- Works in environment with noise and temperature variations
- Operates motor vehicle
