LOCATION

Travelling position: We do not require you to live in a specific location for this position, as it is a traveling position, but you will be expected to report to one of our current job sites across the US. Tepa is a federal prevailing wage contractor. Pay rates will be determined by project and location.


ABOUT THE JOB

As an Apprentice Electrician, you will be responsible for assisting in the installation and repair of complex electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems working from a blueprint.


Job responsibilities include:

  • Assist in completing layouts, pads, sleeves, underground runs, electrical rooms, and equipment rooms
  • Assist Electricians in the performance of assigned duties
  • Ensure equipment is in proper working condition
  • Assist in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring, lighting systems, apparatuses, fixtures, and equipment
  • Become familiar with technical diagrams and blueprints for each project
  • Assist in performing general electrical maintenance
  • Assist in inspecting and maintaining transformer and circuit breakers and other electrical components
  • Assist in troubleshooting electrical issues using appropriate testing devices
  • Assisting in repairing and replacing equipment, electrical wiring, and fixtures
  • Learn to comply with National Electrical Code, state, and local building regulations
  • Prepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring through them
  • Assist in installing safety and distribution components (e.g., switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels, etc.)
  • Assist in connecting wiring in electrical circuits and networks ensuring compatibility of components
  • Assist in troubleshooting damaged systems and units to identify hazards or malfunctions; repair or substitute damaged units
  • Ensure safe installation practices are followed

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • High School diploma or GED
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience as an Apprentice Electrician
  • Completion of an electrician apprenticeship
  • Experience in operating hand tools, and power tools
  • Must have a working knowledge of various test equipment
  • Must have a knowledge of electrical systems, power generation, blueprints, and maintenance and repair
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with Superintendents, Operators, Laborers, and all other personnel on site
  • Must be able to understand, read, and write in English
  • Must be able gain an understanding of how to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and written instructions
  • Must be able gain a working knowledge of the National Electric Code, and applicable Unified Facilities Guide Specifications and Unified Facilities Criteria
  • Must be able to assist in troubleshooting and have a strong attention to detail
  • Must have physical dexterity
  • Must be able to work in elevated areas
  • Must be able to pass a background check required to access US military installations
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • State-issued electrician's license is preferred, not required
