Primary Responsibilities

HDR Engineering is looking for a Bridge Design Engineer to join either our Denver or Colorado Springs, CO team. The Bridge Design Engineer will be expected to perform structural design on transportation structures such as bridges, culverts, and walls. There will be opportunities to use skills in finite element modeling and computational design of bridge structures. This work is expected to be both within traditional project Bid-Build delivery methods as well as the potential for Design Build delivery and Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) methods. HDR offers 39 Technology Centers in various fields of structural design that provide a platform for our technical experts to progress the industry of transportation structural design. Some of these Technology Centers include Steel Bridge Design, Cable Supported Bridges, Finite Element Modeling, Parametric Design, Soil Structure Interaction, and Segmental Bridge Design.

In the role of Bridge Design Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Participate, lead, and review bridge designs, develop design plans, perform structural load calculations and quantity takeoffs, and review shop drawings and field submittals.
  • Work in a team environment as well as independently while challenging yourself to acquire knowledge and experience in engineering.
  • Support the bridge design group and other disciplines by applying structural engineering and detailing techniques in the development of structural designs.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in bridge design
  • Professional Experience (PE) license.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, MicroStation, AutoCAD, MathCAD, LARSA, Prestress Concrete Design
  • Experience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software
  • Experience managing junior staff
  • Excellent communication skills and working in a team environment
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering
  • Experience in structural analysis and design software such as SAP2000, CSiBridge, LARSA, AASHTOWare BrR, LEAP Bridge, or similar is required.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications and other DOT design guidelines is required.
  • Proficiency in general-purpose programming languages like Python or C would be a benefit.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must have good communication skills and be willing to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment on a wide range of projects.

The expected compensation range for this position is $74,480.00 - $134,597.00 annually/hourly depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.)
